Hair Colorists in DC
I worked with Laura Gibson Color (see more of her work on Instagram) with Cavalry salon in DuPont Circle in Washington, DC to color my hair. I was looking to add more depth to my dark, single-tone brown hair. My hair was very dry and damaged from previous bleeching and coloring. I was concerned with the health and strength of my hair. Laura was great with consulting me on how to restore my hair’s health and also achieve the color and look I was going for.
I showed her a couple of photos I found on Instagram (Selena Gomez and JoJo from The Bachelorette). From there, she asked me about the shades I liked the most and also how I wear my hair. I alternate between wearing it up and down because of the weight of my hair. I love wearing it in a messy pony, but I will get headaches from that so I will switch to wearing it down. We wanted to make sure the highlights would look great styled both ways.
I love the end result! What I appreciated the most was her knowledge on how to maintain and care for color treated hair. I am new-ish to coloring my hair, so I’ve struggled with maintaining color treated hair in the past.
If you want to achieve a similar look, here is what you should ask for when you book.
What to Book: I had a full balayage with a smartbond and profiber treatment.
What to Ask For: The colors are of a caramel and macchiato swirl. They blend warmer tones on a dark base color. We worked with warmer tones to complement my skin tone to obtain a glow and prevent a washed out look.
